Eight years ago, I started PeopleGIS to create a different kind of consulting
company; one that is focused on the client and their unique needs for GIS technology. I have
enjoyed these years immensely, and have learned so much from the experience. I have always
loved consulting, and find myself enjoying the work more today than ever before.
For years, PeopleGIS has opened its doors to new ideas and new technologies. Having spent most of my career working with only the most popular vendor solutions, I was interested in learning about other vendor software and open source solutions. My goal was to learn if other solutions could offer my clients more for their money. Often....they can. I believe that more focus is needed on the users of technology as opposed to the technology itself. The best technology in the world can easily fail if its users are not well prepared and supported.
Towards that end, PeopleGIS has remained a company focused on the client. We are not focused on growth...we do not spend endless hours searching for new projects. Rather, we have found that opportunities find us. And when opportunity does find us, usually through our long list of satisfied clients, we forge new relationships that we keep for a long time. I have known the people of Littleton, Concord, Westwood, Berlin, Weston, and many other communities for several years and counting. This is how I feel consulting should be done...close client relationships and long-term quality service.
Our Internet mapping solution, MapsOnline, is constantly growing. We now provide online mapping for nearly fifty communities in nine states. Many of these communities have found us through other communities already using MapsOnline. Others have compared MapsOnline to other solutions and liked what they saw...great technology at the right price. With MapsOnline, we have worked hard to create a solution that meets the needs of our clients, and we continue to improve our software with new functionality and speed enhancements. The Internet continues to lead the growth component of our industry, and MapsOnline continues to lead in this area. And every step of the way we have listened to our clients.....a practice we will always follow.
Our web forms and database solution, PeopleForms, continues to impress everyone who sees it. With PeopleForms, I feel that PeopleGIS has been able to put the full breadth of our experience inside a software platform. No project has been more rewarding and immediately successful, and I look forward to our clients creating more and more databases with this simple yet elegant set of tools. More than any application we have ever developed, PeopleForms embodies the ideas and needs of communities I have worked with over the past seventeen years. Thus far, PeopleGIS has been an extremely rewarding adventure. I look forward to more of the same as the success of PeopleGIS continues. It is a truly amazing thing to connect with your clients and work side-by-side. It is even more amazing to realize that although GIS is built with hardware and software, in reality....
it's all about people...
